Success story Vang Galen and the Lomans Group

Renewed EMB lab from TNO

The EMB Lab in the Schoemakerstraat in Delft tests architectural elements and materials under various conditions. The existing building will be integrated into the overall concept in which various architectural and installation technical adjustments are made. The new building consists of a hall of approximately 1200m2. The extension consists of approximately 650m2 and will be used partly as office space and partly as a laboratory. What's special about this part is that 10 flexible modular lab units can be brought in the front. Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014.

During the selection of the EMB Lab project, the construction team was determined by Heembouw. Along with Van Galen Klimaattechniek (Climate Technology), the Lomans Group is responsible for the technical installations. The project consists of renovation and construction. The construction team started off well. Henk van Ravenhorst, Manager Design & Costing at Lomans: "The trust between the BIM partners was already there before we started the project. For us, supply chain management is transparency, openness and respect for each business operation. From the beginning we think along with the design and the saving proposals."

Marc Speijer, Operations Director at Van Galen: "Stabicad for Revit adds value in resolving clashes between the different disciplines. All information that is added via Stabicad remains in the BIM model. We are excited about this optimal way of cooperating with the construction partners, such as Lomans and the contractor."

Gyula Koelewijn, modeler at Lomans, has experienced this in practice: “We worked for three consecutive days on the conceptual model. Afterwards we presented the results of this intensive cooperation and how it came about. After getting the assignment, we worked for two days a week face to face for a month on location at Heembouw Rotterdam. Cooperation with other construction partners went very well through the BIM working methodology. We exchanged the models for each discipline each week.”
